Synopsis CNA (Cinema Numerique Ambulant) was set up some years ago to enable Africans to see African films, even if they lived in remote villages. It also became a way to deliver awareness campaigns at the same time. The CNA team establishes a base in the region they are working in and every afternoon load up a 4x4 with a projector, lights, speakers, screen and generators and set off for remote villages.
Short educational films are shown and used to generate a village-wide discussion. Afterwards the main film is shown. This could be something lighter like Kirikou or a masterpiece like Ousmane Sembene's Moolaadé. The programme is relatively expensive and gruelling on the team but for the first time in decades there is some positive news: communities are publicly abandoning Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting (FGM/C), building towards a tipping point as has happened in neighbouring Senegal.
