Synopsis The American Mob is a 12 x ½ hr Documentary series which follows the rise of the Irish Mob in America from the 1800’s up until recent years. It tells the amazing stories of first generation Irish kids who became some of America’s most notorious and wanted gangsters.
These gangsters were just as feared as their Itailian rivals leaving a trail of bodies as they shaped the US underworld forever.
The American Mob brings to life 12 Irish American Gangsters from the ruthless Whitey Bulger to the notorious Henry Hill to the Westies Gang who ruled the underworld in in New York during the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.
The Series covers the amazing stories also of
Owney ‘Killer’ Madden, the man who ran his illegal empire from the famous jazz club “The Cotton Club” where gangsters, movie stars and politicians rubbed shoulders on the dancefloor.
Jack ‘Legs’ Diamond, the Irish gangster that survived five attempts on his life becoming an international celebrity in the process, “The bulllet hasn’t been made that can kill me” legs claimed but in 1931 he was blasted 3 times in the head and killed instantly.
Danny Greene, the self styled ‘Celtic Warrior’ who took on the Cleveland Mafia in a bombing war that rocked the city in the 1970’s.
Jimmy ‘the Gent’ Burke who was the basis for Robert De Niro's character in the film Goodfellas which charted the relationship between Burke and another gangster - Henry Hill.
And The Westies Gang- one of the most feared gangs the city of New York has ever seen run by the notorious Jimmy Coonan.
