SplinterBike - The 100% Wooden Bike

Synopsis

"No Bolts and Screws, just wood and glues"

With the immortal words "If you build, I will ride it", joiner and sustainable buildings consultant Michael "Thomo" Thompson and Royal Mail Distributions Manager James Tully, friends and former neighbours for over 20 years, embark on a journey to set the first official world land-speed record on bicycle constructed 100% solely from wood. Inspired when the 2010 Tour of Britain passed by Tommo's workshop in the heart of the Norfolk Broads, this documentary follows the trials and tribulations of the duo over a 12 month period, from design, prototyping and testing, being the centre of a global media storm, the record attempt itself, through to the installation of their unique creation at The Victoria & Albert museum in London. SplinterBike is an often-hilarious tale of British engineering eccentricity and sporting endeavour at its best.
